Young Xàbia chess player Rebeca Jiménez awarded the title of ‘Woman FIDE Master’
The youngster has also represented Spain in the 2021 European Championships in the Czech Republic.

Rebeca Jiménez Fernández has achieved the title of WFM (Women FIDE MASTER) by drawing with FIDE Master José Lara.
The Club d’Escacs de Xàbia has announced this important achievement, which is granted by the World Chess Federation, through its Facebook page, and they publicly congratulate Rebeca for her “enormous success” whilst also encourage her to continue “working to achieve new goals and great achievements both personally and in sport” in the world of chess.
In their ‘post’ the chess club told how the young woman began in the world of chess with them and under the direction of teacherFrancisco Morató. She soon showed her talent at chess, becoming runner-up in Spain in the Under-8 and Under-10 categories. In 2021, the chess club and the Department of Sports in Xàbia collaborated so that Jiménez could represent Spain in the European Championships in the Czech Republic.

Xàbia to Rebeca for the enormous success that this achievement represents and we only want to encourage her to continue working to achieve new goals and great achievements both on a personal and sporting level.
