Xàbia’s schoolchildren set up Eco-Christmas Tree once again
The inauguration will take place on Friday 20th December at 7pm in the Placeta del Convent.
The educational centres of Xàbia have been the protagonists of an outstanding environmental awareness action with the “Plantà de l’Eco-Arbre”, a symbolic initiative that reinforces their commitment to sustainability. This activity is part of an annual programme aimed at both the educational community and the public with the aim of raising awareness about the importance of caring for the environment.
The Eco-Tree, a six-metre-high metal structure, was built with the participation of all the students of Xàbia. The tree has been covered with more than 2,500 reused plastic bottles, an element that symbolises the global problem of plastic pollution. With this gesture, the participants wanted to convey a strong message about the need to recycle and reuse materials to reduce the environmental impact.
“This project aims to raise awareness about the importance of reducing the use of plastic packaging and promoting 100% recycling, which would significantly contribute to the reduction of CO₂ emissions,” said the event organizers.
The “Plantà de l’Eco-Arbre” is just one of the many activities that the educational centres of Xàbia carry out to promote environmental awareness. Throughout the year, work is being done on initiatives focused on:
- Reducing CO₂ emissions.
- Promoting the circular economy, which this year begins its definitive implementation in the municipality.
- Promoting the correct separation of waste, especially the organic fraction and the yellow fraction.
During the event, an awareness-raising tent will be set up where messages will be disseminated about the importance of properly managing waste and educational resources will be offered to promote a more sustainable lifestyle.
The Eco-Tree is part of a set of initiatives aimed at:
- Raising awareness in society about the reuse of waste.
- Promoting the recycling of plastics from the yellow fraction.
- Promoting SDG 12: Responsible Production and Consumption.
- Reinforce the importance of the “R” for Reuse within the circular economy.
With these actions, Xàbia reaffirms its commitment to sustainable development and environmental education, contributing to building a more responsible and environmentally friendly future
