Xàbia’s population rises above 28,000 for the first time since 2014

The latest population figures provided by the national statistics agency show that the town’s population has risen to 28,731.

The population of Xàbia has risen to 28,731, according to the latest figures provided by the Instituto Nacional de Estadística (INE), numbers which also show that the population of the Marina Alta as a whole has risen to above 184,000.

The INE has published definitive data provided by the padrón of municipalities of the Marina Alta to give the registered population of the region, as of January 1st 2022, as 184,284, an increase of more than 4,600 people on the previous year and the highest rise for 14 years. The three biggest towns in the region – Dénia, Xàbia and Calp – together account for more than half of its population.

Of the 33 municipalities in the Marina Alta, only Murla saw a decrease:

According to the latest data from INE, a total of 307,443 British citizens were registered as resident in Spain on July 1st 2022, a drop of more than 8,000 on the beginning of the year.
