Xàbia’s musicians honour patron saint with concerts this week
The annual concert weekend will also be collecting to support musicians and musical groups affected by the DANA storm.
The Centre Artístic Musical de Xàbia (CAM) has organised a special programme to celebrate Santa Cecilia, patron saint of musicians, with a weekend full of concerts and solidarity. The performances, which will take place from 22nd to 24th November, will be held in the Iglésia de San Bartolomé in the heart of the historic centre of Xàbia and will feature the participation of the entity’s various musical groups.
Under the motto for the 2024 edition ‘Som terra de músics i ara cal ser tots a una uno’ (which means “We are a land of musicians and now we must all be one” in English), CAM Xàbia calls for the solidarity of the community so that the music never stops playing. Therefore, this weekend there will not only be a tribute to Santa Cecilia, which has a special meaning for musicians, but also a show of support and commitment to the families and groups affected by the DANA.
CAM Xàbia wants to show its support for the Valencian musical societies affected by the damage caused by the DANA. Some 30 musical societies have suffered serious damage and need help to resume their activity. To contribute to this cause, at each concert there will be a box to raise funds. Concert Programme
Friday 22nd November, 9.30pm: Concert by the CAM Xàbia Orchestra, part of the VII CaixaBank season of concerts performed by orchestras of the Comunidad Valenciana, and conducted by its director, Joan Bou Vayà. The ‘Music Overload 2024’ choir will also be performing at this concert.
Saturday 23rd November, 9.30pm: Concert by the CAM Xàbia Band of the Center Artístic Musical de Xàbia.
Sunday 24th November, 5.00pm: Concert by the CAM Xàbia Youth Band and Youth Orchestra.
All concerts will be performed in the church of San Bartolomé in the heart of the historic centre.
