The Department of Tourism in Xàbia, headed by councillor José Marcos Pons (Vox), is putting together the final preparations for the municipality’s presence at the Madrid International Tourism Fair (FITUR) which will be held next week in the nation’s capital.

FITUR is one of the leading international tourism events in Europe and every year it presents the latest trends and innovations in the sector and it is for this reason that Xàbia will be heading to Madrid with a team led by mayoress Rosa Cardona together with staff from the department to hold different meetings with sector professionals to develop and implement actions which have been included in the Strategic Plan which was approved in November 2023.

The fair begins on Wednesday 24th January, the same day that the Costa Blanca Tourist Board will be marking its presence. The presentation of Xàbia’s new brand strategy has been scheduled, one of the actions included in the 2024 Marketing Plan on which all future promotional actions will pivot. This strategy involves the concept of a renewed, original, creative and innovative image in accordance with the values, identity and cultural attributes of the town, one which will be committed to sustainability, experiences, accessibility, digitalization and tourist intelligence.

The responsible councillor confirmed that one of the objectives that the local government has set is that “the plan had to be developed, so that it was a real project, that would see the light in a timely manner” since it was one of the demands to recover the distinctive tourist municipality.

In addition, on Thursday 25th January, Xàbia will collect Q recognition granted by the Spanish Tourism Quality Institute (ICTE) of the Ministry of Industry and Tourism to the three tourist information offices in the municipality (town, port and the Arenal). The councillor said that “it is an honour for us to receive this certification for our tourism offices which proves the very high level of staff and the wok they do every day”.

Mayoress Rosa Cardona also stressed the importance of this distinction and of working “on quality management systems that guarantee the competitiveness of our destination and the quality of services.” She announced that the next goal “will be to achieve the Q for quality for our beaches”, something on which the local government has already begun to work.

Xàbia will have a position in the Costa Blanca stand, located in pavilion 7 of IFEMA Madrid where the town’s tourism staff will meet the tourism professionals who will attend the event between Wednesday and Friday, whilst the general public will be admitted on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th January.
