Xàbia will become epicentre of indie-rock this weekend

More than 10,000 tickets have been sold for the Montgo Fest music festival.

More than 10,000 tickets have been sold for this weekend’s music festival MONTGÓ ROCK, a celebration of indie-rock that will be taking place on the evenings of Friday 3th May and Saturday 4th May in a special enclosure at the end of Avenida Augusta next to the Fontana Canal in the Arenal.

Mayor Rosa Cardona and the organisers of the festival presented details of this weekend’s event which has the collaboration of the local council which has not only provided funding support of some 36,000 euros but also provided the plot of land on which the festival will be taking place as well as the external security by the Policía Local and the Protección Civil who will be fully coordinated with the event’s private security team.

The festival line-up features a mixture of solo artists and groups including Coque Malla, Sidecars, Carlos Tarque, Los Zigarros, Chambao, Ciudad Jara, Pignoise, La Cámara Roja, Santero y Los Muchachos, Pol 3:14, Malmo 040, Besmaya, Badlands and Marlena.

The mayor said that the music festival helps to “deseasonalise” the town’s attraction to the tourist and wishes great success for the event, encouraging music lovers who are visiting Xàbia to discover more about the wide and varied cultural and festive offering that it has.

One of the organisers, Joan Serrano, confirmed that more than 10,000 tickets have been sold for the event and that this year there will be a ‘frontstage’ to get even closer to the acts. He added that the large majority of attendees will be coming from Madrid and the Comunidad Valenciana.

In addition, a member of the group ‘Badlands’, which will open the 2024 edition, said that they are performing at the festival because of the great support that they have received from it which meant that “we just wouldn’t say no”. He also confirmed that they will be performing some of the songs from the new album that they are working on at the moment.
