Xàbia Council has presented a promotional video at the FITUR International Tourism Fair that it has produced to promote the special exhibition «2022. Año Balenciaga en Xàbia».

Mayor José Chulvi and councillor Toni Miragall (Tourism) have been in charge of unveiling this promotional video for the cultural event that they hope will be “an extra incentive to visit the municipality” and “invigorate the urban centers during the summer“, such as the port and the historic centre, since the exhibition will be distributed between the Casa del Cable, CA Lambert and the Soler Blasco Museum.

The exhibition “El Siglo de Balenciaga” will run from July 1st until September 30th, investigating the work of the great master of haute couture throughout the 20th century until the closure of his fashion houses in Paris, Barcelona and Madrid.

It will have a complete selection of textile pieces from private collections – some of which will see the light for the first time in this exhibition – and it is reinforced by a powerful documentary support that tells us about the evolution of Cristóbal Balenciaga towards success and international recognition.

Another novelty is the search and investigation of the figure of Balenciaga in relation to Xàbia, which he discovered thanks to friends who had a second residence and with which he fell in love. Only a heart attack and his subsequent death broke that crush.

The exhibition project is curated by Pedro Usabiaga and will be complemented by a day of conferences and debate directed by Lydia García and with specialized speakers to talk about Balenciaga’s work and legacy.

For many years, you’ve told us how much you love what we’re doing and some of you have even asked for ways to say thanks. For us, there really is nothing easier to show someone how much you appreciate their efforts than buying them a beer (or a wine; or even a coffee) – it’s so simple.
