Xàbia pays tribute to Protección Civil for their dedication and commitment
This recognition symbolised the gratitude of an entire town towards people who dedicate their time and effort to caring for and helping others.
Last Friday, Xàbia held an event to recognise the volunteers of the Protección Civil de Xàbia, highlighting their unconditional commitment and their essential work in the protection and security of the municipality. This event served to highlight the tireless work and altruism that characterise each of its members, who form a large family at the service of the citizens.
During the event, badges were awarded to those volunteers who have completed between 5 and 35 years of service in the association. This recognition symbolises the gratitude of an entire town towards people who dedicate their time and effort to caring for and helping others.
The last few weeks have been a clear example of the importance of this group. During the DANA that affected the municipalities of Valencia, Protección Civil de Xàbia was one of the first groups to arrive at the affected areas. Without rest, they offered support, help and hope to those who needed it most, demonstrating once again that their work is essential and a source of pride for the entire community.
The event also included a very emotional moment in which all attendees remembered Joaquín Andrés, a member of Protección Civil who passed away recently and who has left an indelible mark on the association. The words of his colleagues reflected the great impact that Ximo had both personally and professionally. His legacy of solidarity and dedication will continue to inspire the Protección Civil de Xàbia.
The president of the group, José Vicente Serra Bolufer, a volunteer with 38 years of experience, thanked the involvement of all the members of Protección Civil and stressed that their work would not be possible without the spirit of solidarity and coordination between everyone: “Being a volunteer means being at the service of others without expecting anything in return, and today we celebrate the union and commitment of a team that is always prepared to face any adversity.”
The councilor responsible for Citizen Security, Juan Ortolà, also congratulated the volunteers and stressed that they are a fundamental pillar to guarantee the security of the municipality, both in emergency situations and on a daily basis.
Chief Superintendent of the Policía Local de Xàbia, José Antonio Monfort, praised the work of the Protección Civil volunteers, highlighting their professionalism and the impeccable coordination of the association: “The work of Protección Civil is not only crucial in times of emergency, but also reflects a continuous commitment to the community. Their response capacity and dedication are an example for all of us.”
Mayor Rosa Cardona also expressed her admiration of the Protección Civil with words full of gratitude: “Today is a special day in which we wholeheartedly recognise and thank the tireless work and unconditional dedication of Protección Civil de Xàbia. You are the living example of solidarity and service, people who, altruistically, decide to put themselves at the service of the municipality and always be ready to help when you are most needed. Thank you, because with your work you not only save lives and protect our environment, but you also keep alive the essence of what it means to be human.”
This tribute is a small gesture to recognise a great work, which not only saves lives, but also inspires all of Xàbia with its example of humanity, solidarity and collective memory.
