Xàbia opens application period for municipal taxi driver’s permit

Xàbia Council has published the terms and conditions for applying for a municipal taxi driver permit in the Official Bulletin of the Province of Alicante The application period opened on Wednesday 19th February and will remain open until Tuesday 18th March and interested parties will be able to submit their applications according to the standardized model in the Town Hall’s General Registry. This permit is mandatory to be a taxi driver in the municipality and requires passing professional qualification tests.

Requirements for Applicants

Applicants must meet, among others, the following requirements:

• Have Spanish nationality, be from an EU Member State or have the necessary residence and work permits;
• Possess the required driving license for at least one year;
• Not suffer from illnesses or physical or mental impediments that make the work difficult;
• Not having a criminal record for road safety offences, personal integrity, gender violence or hate crimes, when the sentences are greater than two years;
• Passing the tests established in the call for applications.

Application Submission and Selection Tests

Interested applicants must submit their application to the town hall together with a copy of their ID and driving licence. After the deadline, the list of those admitted and excluded will be published, allowing a period to correct errors.

The tests will consist of a theoretical exam on taxi regulations, the municipal by-laws, regional legislation and knowledge of the street map of Xàbia. In addition, applicants must demonstrate their ability to identify optimal routes on a map.
