With the approach of Advent, Xàbia has been preparing to welcome Christmas and, since last week, festive lighting and decorations have been installed in public spaces that will be turned on starting this Friday 2nd December.
On same day the nativity scenes that have been prepared by the Asociación de Betlemistes de Xàbia will be inaugurated. This year the group has worked on four different scenes that will be installed in municipal spaces of the Centre d’Arts Lambert in Carrer Major, the Mercat Municipal (indoor market) and – for the first time – in the headquarters of the Policía Local de Xàbia at Portal del Clot. In addition, the tourist office in the port there will be a traditional style statue that represents María in the process of scalding grapes as part of the raisin production process, a vitally important industry for Xàbia’s development in the 19th century.
The Department of Economic Development, in collaboration with the trade associations of Xàbia Histórica, Xàbia Port and Xàbia Arenal, have all prepared various entertainment and leisure activities in the three urban centres.
This weekend there will be a Christmas fair with crafts on the Paseo Joaquín Sorolla in the port. It will be on Saturday 3rd December and Sunday 4th December from 11.00am to 7.00pm and, as an extra incentive, there will be two storytellers with Christmas stories every day at 11.30am next to the large Christmas tree on the promenade itself.
