Since the Viatjem Comunitat Valenciana campaign began to promote tourism within the Valencian region to reactivate a sector that has been heavily punished by the economic crisis of COVID-19, a total of 12,071 reservations have been registered for the second period of the campaign that coincides with the Easter holidays between the months of April and June, with Xàbia and Calp among the most requested destinations in the province of Alicante.

Not in vain, the municipality has experienced a continuous increase in tourism that has increased in the last two decades thanks – in part – to a strong promotion of the scenic benefits and, above all, in the Services sector offered by the town. Along with the two towns of La Marina Alta, Benidorm, Finestrat, Altea, Benimantell and the city of Alicante are the other most popular destinations in the province for Valencians. In the province of Castellón, Peñíscola and Morella top the list whilst in Valencia, it is the capital of Túria itself.

According to the regional secretary for Tourism, Francesc Colomer: “during this second period of the Viatgem CV program we have distributed more than 17,000 vouchers and we have a waiting list of more than 37,700 people“. Colomer explained that, with the data handled by the administration, of more than 12,000 reservations made only in this second period, more than 36,000 residents of the Comunidad Valenciana will benefit, an average of three people per trip and taking into account that the minimum number of people to request the voucher is two.

Regarding stays, the average length is more then three nights in all modalities, being much higher in campsites (12 nights) and in tourist rental homes (6 nights). In hotels, the average length of stay requested through the voucher scheme is at least 4 nights. The most popular accommodation is the hotel with about 78% of the total reservations, followed by rural accommodation which accounts for more than 10% of the total number of reservations.

48.8% choose to make their stays during the week, which represents a spaced revitalization of the economy of the sector. Also, there has been a high request for packages that include previously arranged activities and experiences in addition to accommodation.

To date, 1,410 companies have already joined the Viatjem CV initiative and almost 70% of the aid corresponding to this second period has been paid. Specifically, in Xàbia, travel agencies have joined (where you can arrange the voucher for any destination in the region) I love travel and Calima Vacations; tourist housing rental companies: Tuacte Activos, Bungalows El Arenal, Webvillas.net; the hotels: Miramar, Nomad Hotel, Triskel, Balcón al Mar, Hotel Jávea, Parador de Turismo and Sol de Jávea; the Secrets Rural House rural accommodation and the El Naranjal campsite. Some 12 million euros has been put aside for the two periods of 2021: from January 1 to June 15 and from September 15 to December 31.
