Xàbia Town Hall has granted extraordinary aid to 149 families in the municipality with the help of a subsidy of 358,772 euros from the Social Services Area of the Diputación de Alicante.

Councillor Fàtima Jarjor (Social Services) explained that this aid has been intended to alleviate extraordinary situations brought about by the economic crisis as well as to assist refugees fleeing the war in Ukraine, which accounts for some 50 of all the families receiving help.

The councillor added that since February 2022, Xàbia has assisted a total of 110 Ukrainian families, some of whom have returned to their home country whilst others have changed locations. Some have even found employment in the town.

The Department of Social Services monitors all families in need in Xàbia and, in the case of those of Ukrainian origin, they have received aid from different municipal initiatives.
