Monday 22nd November 2021 – PRESS RELEASE with Mike Smith
Xàbia Council has approved a package worth 267,000 euros within the Paréntesis II aid line co-financed by the Generalitat Valencia, the Diputación de Alicante and the local government to support the self-employed and small companies whose activity was damaged by the restrictions put in place to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
Councilor Ximo Segarra (Finance) explained that this funding will be distributed among 39 beneficiaries (who all met the application requirements, who will receive between 2,300 and 8,000 euros each, according to the justification of their expenses. The aid will be credited to their accounts over the next few days.
Segarra has pointed out that after this second application period, Xàbia has managed to distribute almost 1.4 million of the 1.5 million euros which was put aside for the two phases of the Plan RESISTIR, an amount that reflects the administrative effort that has been made and the coordination with the agencies to provide the maximum documentation.
The councillor highlighted that the local government has yet to resolve another line of aid, 100% local and called “Recuperem Xàbia”, for which it 600,000 euros has been put aside, which was launched as a complement to the regional plan and which will extend the aid to sectors that had not been able to benefit from the Paréntesis plan.
This direct aid forms only part of the social and economic response of Xàbia Council to the crisis unleashed by the pandemic. Two employment plans have also been activated – with a third in the preparation phase – social aid has been increased and fiscal measures have been approved such as the exemption from the tax for the occupation of public roads in 2020 and 2021 or the lowering of the IBI for the next fiscal year.
