XÀBIA FOLK 2024 | Great success for popular music festival
The four weekend concerts by renowned folk music groups was well attended.
The 22nd edition of the popular music festival Xàbia Folk proved to be another great success in the town’s cultural calendar with large attendance at all four of the concerts that took place last weekend.
On Friday, there was a special concert for children in the sports playground of CEIP Port de Xàbia performed by Pep López i Sopars de Duro, a great chance to introduce young people to the genre of folk music. That evening, the group Sons d’Embat took to the stage in the marquee in Plaza de la Constitución for another great evening concert.
On Saturday, there were two concerts, the first in the intimate surroundings of the theatre in the Casa de Cultura in the heart of the historic centre with Alicornio before the female voices of Acetre delighted the audience in the marquee for the late evening concert. On Sunday, the festival concluded as always with an intimate concert by Breul inside the small chapel of Santa Llúcia on the top of the small hill that overlooks the town.
The councillor responsible for Cultre, Mavi Pérez (CPJ), highlighted the high quality of the groups this year as well as a great response from the public who attended all four concerts in great numbers. She said that Xàbia Folk was already renowned in the Spanish folk music scene and the proof of that fact is that renowned groups wanted to come to Xàbia to perform at the music festival.
She also thanks the efforts of La Romàntica del Saladar to organise the festival in collaboration with the team from the Department of Culture.
