Xàbia is preparing for the premiere this weekend of the new Arenal Blues Festival, which will be based on the Arenal promenade, Paseo Tenista de David Ferrer, next to the most touristic beach in the municipality.
The five concerts, organized by the Department of Culture in collaboration with the Xablues association, are totally free and will delight fans of rhythm & blues
The music starts on the evening of Friday 17th March at 8.00pm on the stage in the central area (next to Bar Octopus) on which Tamy & The Sweet Band, a young group based in the Marina Alta, will open the festival.
On Saturday 18th March, Arenal Blues will return at 6.00pm in the northern part of the promenade (near La Fontana) with three groups: Georgie & The Fire Lights, Los Fabulosos Blueshakers and the Graham Foster Blues Band led by the guitar legend himself, a musician, discovered by Elton John and who has played with Etta James as well as such iconic bands as Oasis and Mclan, who now lives in the Marina Alta, which brings the opportunity to enjoy his music closer.
The festival comes to an end with the last concert at 12 noon on Sunday 18th March in the southern part of the promenade performed by the Altea Blues Project quartet.
This music festival is the cultural complement for a weekend in which several towns and cities will be enjoying a festive “puente” for Sant Josep, Día del Padre. The Arenal is the ideal destination for visitors since it will offer a combination of beach, an environment full of commercial, hotel and service offers in addition to concerts during the three days of the long weekend.
