Xàbia Council and Costas work on environmental recovery of Primer Muntanyar
The 600,000 euro project will be carried out during the winter to improve the coastline between the port and the Arenal.
A meeting has taken place this week between the Provincial Coastal Authority, an agency of the Ministry of Ecological Transition, and Xàbia Council to highlight details of a 600,000 euro project to recover the Primer Muntanyar between the port area and the Arenal.
The work, which is expected to be carried out during the winter and financed by the Ministry, will include the cleaning and tidying of the coastal strip between Platja La Grava and Parador de Jávea, removing all invasive vegetation and accumulated rubbish, and the creation of pathways to the historic tosca quarries with information panels to highlight areas of archaeological and environmental relevance.
In addition, seven shaded rest areas will be created to improve the enjoyment of the area for visitors and all protected areas will be marked off, whilst the Ministry will also improve and reduce the parking zone next to the Parador de Jávea that has invaded public maritime domain.
The project also forms the first phase of a series of actions that the local government has planned for this legislature to improve the environment working from the coast to the urban centre, revamping public roads, the sewage system and the services of the Primer Muntanyar.
