The Department of Services in Xàbia has got together with voluntary and environmental groups in the town to organize an environmental volunteer day on Saturday 18th September as part of the global World Cleaning Day movement.

Councillor Kika Mata (Services) explained that the activity has been organised to attend to different points of the coastline and natural environment of Xàbia: the Primer and Segunda Montañer, La Plana, the port, the coves of Granadella, Barraca and Sardinera, El Arenal, La Caleta, Les Sortetes and Portitxol.

In each of these areas, there will be an association or collective in charge: Cruz Roja de Xàbia, Centro Excursionista Xàbia, Club Náutico Jávea, Xàbia Neta Entre Tots, The Isbjorn collective, Let’s Do It, Club de Atletisme Llebeig, Xàbia Te Quiero Limpia and the Rotary Club of Jávea. The event will also have the support of the volunteers from the Protección Civil Xàbia.

Those interested in participating in this special activity to take care of the planet can register via email servicios@ajxabia.org by Wednesday 15th September, indicating the area of preference as well as any mobility issues so that they can be assigned to the more accessible zones. All participants will receive a commemorative T-shirt.

World Clean Up Day will unite more than 20 million people in 180 countries who will come together to rid the planet of trash – cleaning up litter and mismanaged wate from our beaches, rivers, forests, and streets. The initiative harnesses the power of everyday people to achieve incredible things by joining together. Its beauty lies in cooperation and collaboration: building bridges between disparate communities and including all levels of society – from citizens to business to government.
