The Alicante Provincial Council has completed work to improve road safety on the stretch of the Portitxol road between Residencial Toscamar and the lighthouse at Cap de la Nau.
The project had a budget more than 300,000 euros and involved the complete re-surfacing of the road as well as the creation of drainage zones in different sections along the road to collect rain water and prevent it from accumulating on the surface. In addition, a narrow concrete hard shoulder has been created along section where it has been possible to do so.
The project was carried out by PAVASAL, which has been finishing off the work during the last week by applying all the necessary road markings and removing all the signs warning of the presence of roadworks as well as detours using the La Guardia road.
The section between the Consum roundabout and the La Guardia roundabout remains to be improved, although this will be planned and carried out by the provincial council on consultation with Xàbia Council and local residents.
