Walking in the steps of Sorolla during June
Art historian David Gutiérrez will lead a number of guided tours to explore painter Joaquín Sorolla’s links to the town of Xàbia.
Wednesday 2nd June 2021 – ÁLVARO MONFORT with Mike Smith
After an enforced stop due to the reduction of people in public spaces, the the famous painter Joaquin Sorolla will once again tour the port of Xàbia and explore the corners that were the scene of his legendary visit to the town, courtesy of art historian and XAD collaborator David Gutiérrez. An expert on the famous painter, he will be resuming his personal ambition to spread the image of the artist and his special connection with Xàbia.
These guided tours will take on a special significance this year, seeing that 2021 marks the 125th anniversary of Sorolla’s visit to the town, and for this reason Gutiérrez has programmed a new agenda that offers a mixture of general and more specific tours and includes painting and locations from the wide range of works that the painter immortalized in Xàbia.
These tours will undoubtedly provide a good way of getting closer to the paintings, colour notes, drawings and expressive letters that the painter sent describing his experience and feelings towards the town of Xàbia.
