Volunteers collected 103kg of rubbish from various public spaces in Xàbia
The volunteers worked on three public spaces to remove packaging, paper, cardboard, scrap metal, glass and other material.
A total of 103 kilograms of various waste were removed from different municipal spaces during the latest initiative “XÀBIA CONTRA LA BASURALEZA” organized by the Department of the Environment within the framework of the World Environment Week.
In three groups, the volunteers removed rubbish from three points: Cap Prim, the area around the Chapel of Santa Llúcia and a section of the Gorgos riverbed in between Discoteca Molí Blanc and Pont del Llavador.
In total, the volunteers collected 24.5 kilograms of packaging, 18 kilos of paper-cardboard, 10 kilograms of glass and another 50.5 kilograms of wood, scrap metal, hard plastic.
The councilor responsible for the Environment, Juanlu Cardona (PP), thanked the participation of all those who volunteered and explained that the programming for World Environment Week will continue with the exhibition of short films on the environmental theme on Thursday 6th June and Friday 7th June at the Casa de Cultura in Plaça del Baix from 7.30pm and with the exhibition “Movilidad Sostenible, Inclusiva i Segura” which can be visited this Wednesday 5th June at the desalination plant between 10.00am and 12.00pm and then from 6.00pm to 8.00pm.
