Volunteer firefighter embarks on challenge to raise funds for BAM Voluntarios
Trainee firefighter Aaron Jones will be climbing Montgó and then walking to the ISVH headquarters carrying 20kg of firefighting equipment.

Aaron Jones, one of Balcon Al Mar Voluntarios firefighting team’s newest members is taking on an incredible challenge. He will be hiking up Montgó, descending, and then walking to the station at Balcón al Mar – all while wearing full firefighting gear weighing around 20 kg.
Aaron explains: “For this challenge, I’ll be hiking up and down Montgo followed by a walk to the ISVH Voluntarios Balcon al Mar station. I’ll be carrying 44lbs (about 20kg) of equipment – representing the gear we may use during a call out. The total distance covered will be 754 meters (2,470ft) up the Montgo and back down plus 17km (10.6 mile) to the station. The 44lbs represents a pound for each year the the ISVH Voluntarios Balcon al Mar has been in existence.”
To support this amazing effort, the team have set up a GoFundMe page and all proceeds will help them continue to protect against wildfires in our beautiful town of Jávea.
