New cases in nursing homes have reduced by 64% in a month

The vaccination campaign has helped reduce the number of infections amongst residents and staff.

Since the beginning of the vaccination campaign against COVID-19 in the nursing homes for the elderly throughout the Comunidad Valenciana, the number of infections amongst residents and staff working in these centres has been decreasing.

In fact, for a month, the number of cases detected in nursing homes has dropped by 64%, from 1,299 positive results detected during the third week of January to 472 positive results reported in the past week.

Infections have also been progressively decreasing amongst the personnel who carry out their work in these centres, with new cases detected falling by 67.36% in one month, from 380 in the third week of January to 124 in the past week.

The staff and residents in nursing homes have been the first to receive the vaccine, a campaign that began at the end of the December which has seen 44,945 doses administered to the elderly residents of the home and 39,515 doses given to the staff at these centres.

Finally, the latest data is also reflecting a decrease in the number of coronavirus outbreaks in nursing homes, with new outbreaks dropping by 78.04% in a month and active outbreaks by 23.04%.

The number number of nursing homes for the elderly that are under active monitoring in the Comunidad Valenciana has dropped by almost 5%.
