Víctor Candela donates sculpture of Don Quixote to port library
The statue of one of the most iconic Spanish characters welcomes visitors to the complex.
The sculptor Víctor Candela has temporarily donated a series of iron sculptures to the Duanes Library complex in the port, among which is a statue of Don Quixote standing on his horse Rocinante.
The artist visited the library in Avenida del Botanic Cabanilles to meet with the councilor responsible for Culture, Mavi Pérez (CPJ), and explain what works he has donated so that all residents can enjoy them. Don Quixote’s is the most notable. It is located right at the entrance and the protagonist of the novel is mounted on his horse Rocinante, welcoming visitors to the complex.
The councillor thanked the artist for temporary donation since the works are not only “very rooted to Xàbia and the sea but also to literature with the figure of Don Quixote” and joins another artistic donation hosted by the municipal library of the historic centre.
