Friday 26th November 2021 – PRESS RELEASE with Mike Smith
Turisme Comunitat Valenciana has started distributing the 6 million euros that had been put aside to finance the Tourist Municipalities Cooperation Fund to more than 250 tourist municipalities in the region. Regional tourism secretary, Francesc Colomer, has begun to contact these destinations to inform them that the distribution of the funds that act as an economic compensation to these municipalities has started and how much they can expect to receive.
Each tourist municipality of the Comunidad Valenciana will receive a fixed amount of 6,745 euros before the remaining balance will be distributed based on its total number of registered accommodation places.
Colomer explained that “this is the second year that we have launched this cooperation fund aimed at tourist municipalities and in 202 it had a budget of 4.5 million euros, which has been increased to 6 million euros”. He added that “in just two years, 10.5 million euros will be distributed, more than double which was allocated in the five tears of the previous initiative (2010-2015)”.
It should be noted that, this year, the provincial councils of Castellón and Valencia have joined this fund and will double the investment allocated by the Generalitat Valenciana to their municipalities in their region. Colomer explained that “the Tourist Municipalities Cooperation Fund is inclusive since it has been designed so that the provincial councils can participate. In this case, two of the three councils have joined and will contribute the same amount as the Generalitat to destinations in their provinces”.
The initiative is regulated by Decree 142/2020 in which Article 8 includes the possibility of the participation of the provincial councils of the Comunidad Valenciana and details that they will distribute by province the same amount of the Generalitat Valenciana.
The head of tourism in the region has written to all 252 tourist municipalities in the Comunidad Valenciana that will benefit from this funding to confirm them of the amount that will be immediately distributed to them as a single payment corresponding to 100% of the total amount.
