CD Jávea suffered a setback in their promotion aspirations as they crashed to defeat at home to Racing FC Benidorm, a serious rival for a top three position. The rojiblancos remain in third place with 29 points, six behind leaders CFI Alicante.
It was a tough game with little play, the home side trying to control the game down the flanks with little success. Jávea had the first real chance of the game when leading scorer Guerrero tried a shot from the edge of the area but it was comfortable stopped by the keeper. At the other end, a free kick from Cesar Ortiz was stopped by Edu.

The game was settled on 80 minutes when a clumsy challenge on the edge of the area handed Benidorm a second penalty – this time it was clearly a spot kick – and Hucha was on hand again, sending Edu the other way this time, firing low in the right bottom corner.
CD Jávea are clearly suffering from playing two games a week – and have suffered another casualty with influential midfielder Ferrán Molina having to withdraw at half-time. In addition, the unwarranted yellow card for Aldo may mean that the long-serving skipper may miss Wednesday’s evening game against bottom side UD Portuarios.
