FGV has established the stops of the substitute service next to the five affected stations on this section of Line 9 (Benidorm-Dénia).

Starting on Monday 9 September, Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV) will be providing a substitute bus service between Calp and Altea stations on Line 9 of the TRAM d’Alacant (Benidorm-Dénia), as a result of the works being carried out on the new Algar and Mascarat viaducts.

From the start of the service, the alternative bus service will cover the route between the five stops of Altea, Garganes, Cap Negret, Olla Altea and Calp. The stops have been installed next to the five stations affected in this section.

This interruption of the railway service is a continuation of the one that has affected the Calp-Olla Altea section as a result of the emergency works that have been carried out in recent months to deal with the effects of the fire that occurred last January in the Mascarat area, through which this line runs.

From October, the railway closure will be extended to Teulada and, in a final phase, before the completion of the works in December, the temporary bus service will cover the Calp-Garganes section.

For more information, travellers can call the information telephone number 900 72 04 72, or visit the TRAM d’Alacant website or the official TRAM d’Alacant app.

The Algar and Mascarat viaducts

Work on the new Mascarat and Algar railway viaducts on Line 9, located in the municipality of Altea, have a joint budget of over 16 million euros and are financed by European Funds. They are being carried out by FGV in order to complete the modernisation of Line 9 that links Benidorm and Dénia before the end of the year.

Once the renovation works on the Algar and Mascarat viaducts are finished, the modern diesel-electric propulsion units Series 5000 will be able to run along Line 9 of the TRAM d’Alacant (Benidorm-Dénia) avoiding the transfer that currently takes place in Calpe for travellers.

Emergency Works

The emergency works have made it possible to remedy the deficiencies caused to the railway infrastructure and its surroundings by the forest fire of 6 January. Since last April, work has been carried out to mitigate possible geological risks; the reconstruction of an embankment and drainage infrastructure; and the reduction of erosion on slopes and hillsides close to the track layout. The work has been carried out along nearly three kilometres of railway line and has had a budget of three million euros, VAT included.
