TRAM d’Alacant carried almost 230,000 passengers in the Marina Alta during 2024
The capital of Alicante recorded 13.5 million trips, 67.7% of the total in the metropolitan area.

The three regions covered by the TRAM d’Alacant network – L’Alacantí, La Marina Baixa and La Marina Alta – received almost 20 million trips during 2024. The network saw 19,946,839 trips, of which 17,010,447 (85.28%) were made in the L’Alcantí region, 2,708,143 (13.58%) in the Marina Baixa region, and 228,249 (1.14%) were made in La Marina Alta.
The region of L’Alcantí, which includes the provincial capital, saw the most trips: 13,506,909 were made in the city of Alicante itself, some 67.71% of the total network journeys, followed by Sant Vicent del Raspeig (1,968,292 – 9.87%) and El Campello (1,535,246 – 7.70%).
The region of La Marina Baixa, in which five municipalities are linked to the network, including the resort of Benidorm which saw 1,535,588 passengers passing through its station, the third most busy in the network with a total of 7.70% of the total journeys. A total of 6444,480 passengers passed through La Vila Joiosa (3.23%), 263,371 trips were registered by Altea (1.32%), 175,663 by Cala Finestrat (0.88%) and 89,041 (0.45%) were registered at Alfàs del Pi.
With regards to La Marina Alta, in which five municipalities are linked to the network, Dénia recieved the most number of passengers (120,025 – 0.60% of the network total), followed by Calp (37,053 – 0.19%), Teulada (33,593 – 0.15%), Gata de Gorgos (29,935 – 0.15%) and Benissa (7.943 – 0.04%).
It should be remembered that for much of 2024, Line 9 (Benidorm-Dénia) was closed between Altea and Calp due to repair and modernisation work with passengers forced to take a replacement bus service between the two stations. This may have had a detrimental impact on the number of passengers using the service between the two Marina regions. This section has now re-opened and TRAM d’Alacant has issued a new timetable; see image below.
