The Youth Council of Xàbia (CAX) is born to promote youth participation

Xàbia Council has taken another step in its commitment to children and youth with the creation of the Youth Council of Xàbia (Consell d’Adolescència de Xàbia · CAX). This new organism has been developed to address the need to make Xàbia a friendlier place for teenagers, a space where they can develop, grow and feel comfortable.

For some time now, Xàbia has had the Children and Youth Council (Consell d’Infància i Adolescència), a forum where young people can express their concerns. However, it has been proven that these concerns evolve with age, which has led to the creation of this new council, focused exclusively on teenagers. Its objective is to allow them to express themselves, promote their own projects and contribute to the improvement of Xàbia from their point of view.

The councilor for Childhood and Adolescence, Raquel Violero (PP), previously visited all the high schools to explain how the new Youth Council would function, the meaning of being a councilor and to encourage students to be part of this initiative. The response has been very positive, reflecting the teenagers’ desire to be heard and contribute to their municipality.

This week, its first meeting took place, in which the Youth Council of Xàbia was officially established. During the meeting, the young participants shared their first ideas and proposals, marking the beginning of this new stage of youth participation in the municipality.
