The Valencia Port Foundation holds conference on fishing tourism in Xàbia
TOURISMED PLUS is promoting a sustainable approach to maritime and coastal heritage.

Councilor Antonio Miragall (Tourism) took part in a conference on fishing tourism held in Xàbia as part of the European project TOURISMED PLUS, an initiative of the Fundación Valencia Port funded by the European Interreg MED programme.
This project is a continuation of TOURISMED which promoted a sustainable approach to maritime and coastal heritage and raised awareness amongst tourists about the ecosystem and marine culture.
Xàbia was one of the municipalities in which this experience was implemented under the title of PESCA TURISME, promoting an alternative and economic reinforcement to traditional fishing. For its development, it was necessary for the interested boats to obtain a certification and their skippers to receive specific training. Now, thgere are two boats that offer this type of tourist experience, providing an opportunity to share a day of fishing.
Councillor Miragall spoke about these and other project in which Xàbia Council has tried to incorporate the primary and traditional sector in tourist experiences and the important of collaboration between the public and private sectors.
