THE PORT FIESTA CELEBRATES ‘MIG ANY’ ON SATURDAY 23rd MARCH
This special day will feature some of the most iconic events of this late summer fiesta but on a smaller scale.
On Saturday 23rd March, the fiestas that honour the Mare de Déu de Loreto – commonly known in English as the “port fiesta” – will be celebrating the ninth edition of MIG ANY, a special one-day event which roughly marks the midway point between the late summer festivities and provide an opportunity for the organising committee to raise funds.
The programme for 2024 will feature some of the most iconic events of the fiesta but on a smaller scale. At 8.30am, the day will begin with the tradition DESPERTÀ through the streets of Duanes de la Mar, led by the Fiesta Commission and the PENYES MARINERES, which will culminate with the flower offering to the image of Mare de Déu de Loreto in the iconic port church.
At 11.00am, there will be a game of RASPALL, a variant of Valencian Pilota in which Luca, Tomaca and Adrián will face off against Sergio, Joan and Augstín in Calle Virgen de Loreto, whilst there will be chess games played in Paseo Jaime I.
At 11.30am, the little ones will be able to enjoy some inflatables, followed by a deafening “GLOBOTÀ” with balloons, craft workshops and face painting. At the same time, the famous BARET DELS BOUS will open in Paseo Jaime I where refreshing drinks and tasty seafood tapas will be served. At around 3.00pm the Fiesta Commission will be serving plates of VALENCIAN PAELLA.
The day will continue with a “TARDEO MARINER” from 5.00pm which will include live music from GLOP ESPONJA who will be playing Spanish pop-rock hits from the 80s to the present.
