This Sunday 23rd April, the religious calendar of Xàbia continues with the oldest procession in the town, the one that honours San Francisco de Paula, the patron saint of the Order of Minims, a religious order which built a monastery in the municipality in 1601.

The festivities will be taking place in the evening, kicking off with the Eucharist at 7.00pm in the church of the old convent of Augustinas in Placeta del Convent. At 8.00pm, there will be a procession with the image of San Francisco de Paula along the usual route. When it returns to the church, the image will be returned to the chapel and afterwards there will be complimentary wine for all attendees.

The novena, nine successive days of prayer, started on Tuesday 18th April at 7.30pm and will continue at the same time until Tuesday 25th April.

A representation of the mayorales and mayoralesas of the fiesta and the president of the board, Jaume Catalá, delivered a programme of events to the mayor José Chulvi and extended an invitation to the whole of the town to participate in this simple but historic celebration.
