AYTO San Silvestre Race

On December 31st, the historic centre of Xàbia will be filled with runners, walkers and pets on the occasion of the first edition of the SAN SILVESTRE PERRESTRE DE XÀBIA, organised by the Department of Sports, Club Esportiu Lleibeig, Asevi Home Brands and the Xàbia Històrica trade association.

The organisers presented details of this sporting fiesta which consists of two disciplines, one for runners and one for walkers. Registrations can be made online via the website somesport.com and participation will cost 7 euros with 2 euros being a donation to the APASA animal shelter in Xàbia.

The 2.25 kilometre route will pass through the streets of the historic centre of Xàbia and has been organised in such a way that the end will coincide with the traditional midday celebration for the little ones to welcome the New Year in their own way with their own chimes of the bells.

The president of the Club Esportiu Llebeig, Madelane Powell, explained that the route has been designed with both ascents and descents, narrow and wide flat areas, to offer everything to the participate. In addition, the event has been organised so that the runners and walkers will not get in the way of each other with the walking discipline only starting when the last walker crosses the finish line.

The president invited everyone to take part in this special festive sporting event in which two prizes will be available for those who participate with the best fancy dress costume, individually or as a group, courtesy of Xàbia Històrica and Asevi.

Inma Ferrer, marketing director of Asevi Home Brands, added that her company will be giving each participant a sample of a specific floor clearer for pets that the Xàbia-based company has just launched on the market.

The councillor responsible for Sports, Toni Molina (PP), said that such an event has never been hosted in Xàbia (a similar event in Madrid has become a national tradition), adding that this is a perfect date for the Christmas period to combine sport with charity and support APASA, thanking both Club Esportiu Llebeig and Asevi for their willingness to organise and support this fun initiative.
