TETMA, the company responsible for waste collection in Xàbia for the next eight years, has begun fencing off the first Punt Verds in the municipality, the first phase of the closure of this facilities in order to avoid the improper use of these spaces for recycling in urbanizations.
The first closures have begun in the Rafalet area where the green perimeter surrounding the Punt Verd has been cut down and a green fence has been installed in its place. In addition, the entrance has been narrowed and will soon have an access control system.
This access control is one of the new features of the latest rubbish collection contract that the town hall has signed with TETMA. The closure of the 21 Punt Verds has come about due to the bad attitudes of some which have ruined the work of the contracted staff who come first thing in the morning to collect the waste and three hours later they are full again with various materials dumped in the area.
Access will be achieved through the use of an identification card and access code, although the town hall has not yet disclosed how and when this feature will be applied and who will have access.
