Isabel Bolufer, the councillor for Town Planning, has announced that she is to leave the position and resign as councillor in the coming days for personal reasons. XAD has learnt that her resignation is due to her desire to enjoy her retirement and make way for new people in the party.

Bolufer has been serving on the Council for the past seven years as the head of a department that not been without its problems, with a General Plan stuck in the regulatory changes by the regional government and the opposition asking to reject it two years ago.

XAD learnt that the councillor was intending to resign a few days ago, although she asked for a delay in announcing the news until mayor José Chulvi announced it, something that he will be doing today (Monday) in a press conference in which he will announce a re-shuffle of the government team. Apparently, the councillor and the mayor agreed to a departure midway through the current legislature when she agreed to continue on the socialist team for the 2019 local elections.

Now who takes over the role is the hot topic of discussion, who will take on the town planning portfolio and all the headaches that it offers. The resignation could mean a return to politics of former councillor Doris Courcelles, who was next of the PSOE-PSPV candidacy list, or it could be José Luis Luengo, who acts as an advisor in the Department of Services. Whoever takes over will have a tough job, and Isabel Bolufer will be able to enjoy her retirement and her family, without having to think about getting up on Monday at 8.00am to deal with companies and technicians to carry out the party’s projects and combine it with a difficult department to sell to the public.

Ciudadanos por Jávea returns to government

In that press conference, the mayor will also announce a pact with Ciudadanos por Jávea, by which the two independent councillors will be integrated into the local government. Yesterday the party conveyed the news to its members.

The independents had repeatedly refused to join the government in this legislature, but now, two years before the elections, they are doing so, and holding the councils that have always been theirs: among others, Police and Transportation.
