The Àgora percussion festival kicks off the month of July

The music festival will feature a series of concerts in the Riurau d’Arnauda.

One of the most increasingly popular summer music seasons in Xàbia returns at the beginning of July. The Àgora Actual percussion festival celebrates its seventh edition between July 1st and July 3rd, celebrating the different musical cultures of the world through percussion. All concerts are free admission.

The programme opens on Monday 1st July at 8.00pm on the promenade of Platja de la Grava in the port zone with concert entitled “Metall Mediterrani” featuring the soloists of Àgora Actual fused with the sound sculptures of Toni Marí, a show that debuted last year during the fashion show dedicated to the paintings of Joaquín Sorolla.

The following day, Tuesday 2nd July, there are two sessions, both performed in the Riurau d’Arnauda in the Parque Montaner. The first at 11.00am features a musical walk with “Digraph Project” with works by Aperghis, Oliveira and Aguirre whilst the evening session, at 10.30pm, the group “Neopercusión” will performing pieces composed by Reich and traditional African works.

The final concert on Wednesday 3rd July at 10.30pm, also at the Riurau d’Arnauda, the festival will close with “Projecte SOXXI & Ensemble Cubà” performing works by Aguirre as well as traditional Cuban compositions. Projecte Soxxi is a group formed by Borja Donet, Andreu Queralt, Miguel Ángel Real, Sergi Dauder, Josep Furió, Victor Segura and Joan Soriano.
