Xàbia Council has approved the start of the contracting procedure for the construction of a wastewater network called “Montgó 3” which will run along the Camí dels Castellans (starting on Calle Cáceres and ending on Avda Ángel Domenech).
The project, drawn up by Urbanistas Ingenieros, S.A, has an estimated budget of 467,138.12 euros (VAT included) and an execution period of three months.
The works included in this project consist of the installation of a new waste water network in this scattered area located at the foot of Montgó which will connect to the existing sewage network in the municipality of Xàbia. This new infrastructure will allow the homes that are located in the vicinity (the estimates of the urban planning department calculate that there may be about 900) can be connected, thus stopping the discharge of their wastewater to the septic tanks and, therefore, reducing the potential contamination of the subsoil.
The work does not affect private properties, since it will run entirely through publicly owned land. Once the network is installed, the entire surface of the affected road will be replaced. In addition, the replacement of low voltage underground lines and a telephone infrastructure have also been planned, as well as a small impact on a rain drainage network. To do this, the winning company must coordinate with AMJASA and the electricity company.
The new network will work entirely by gravity and has a total length of approximately 1,192 meters. A total of 51 precast concrete manholes have also been projected at all changes of direction and slope, as recommended by municipal ordinance.
This is the first phase of the municipal plan to expand the sewerage network. Three other projects for new pipes are also in the preparation phase: another in the Montgó area, another in Lluca and a third in Cap de la Nao. In total, the municipal investment is estimated at 8 million euros.
