Last Friday 14th January, the new protocol established between the regional health ministry and the College of Pharmacists of Valencia came into force, in which participating pharmacies would be able to notify the regional health authorities of new infections that are detected using antigen tests purchased in these establishments.
In Xàbia, 10 pharmacies have joined this protocol, which aims to alleviate the pressure on the region’s primary care system, which has been forced to deal with the rapid spread of the virus during this sixth wave and the burden of care of the health and emergency centres. A total of 39 pharmacies across the Marina Alta have registered to contribute.
The pharmacies that provide this service in the municipality are:
El Arenal: Mari Paz Uriol Batuecas (Avenida de la Libertad, 7), Rosa María Pérez Ortuño (Av. Pla-Cabo La Nao, 126), Vicente Salort Llorca (Av. Pla-Cabo La Nao, 165) and Cholbi-Cholbi (Carretera Cabo La Nao-Cala Blanca).
Aduanas del Mar (Port): Salomé Martínez Pastor (Av. Lepanto, 12) and Toni Marín Lluch (Calle Napoles 7).
El Centro Histórico: Amparo Marsal Romany (Av. Juan Carlos I, 33), Antonio Vicente Almodóvar Morell (Plaza Joanot Martorell, 5), Belchi-Belchi (Ronda Colón, 4) and Concepción Rodrigo Gasque (Av. Colomer, 3) .
The process is free. The person concerned only has to purchase an antigen test and perform the test in the presence of the professional (or have it performed if a safe way of doing so has been enabled in the establishment). If the result is positive, the SIP details of the person are submitted with the consent given for its data to be included in the records of the regional health authorities.
From then on, the positive person should isolate themselves and wait for a call from a primary care physician who will give them instructions on how to proceed and follow up. Patients who test positive at a pharmacy may also apply for sick leave 24 hours after the diagnostic test is performed via THIS LINK.
