SPORTS COUNCIL SELECTS FEMALE ATHLETES TO BE RECOGNISED IN 2024 CAMPAIGN
They are Estrella Gámez, Ana Bisquert, Marisa Ponce, Dora Roselló and the women’s rowing team of Club Náutico Jávea.
The Consell de l’Esport de Xàbia has chosen the five female athletes who will be recognized in the “Dona i Esport 2024” campaign promoted by the Department of Sports in order to acknowledge publicly the municipality’s female athletes.
The women to be honoured are Estrella Gámez (artistic gymnastics), the women’s rowing team of the Club Náutico Jávea, Ana Bisquert (Club Esportiu Llebeig) and Marisa Ponce & Dora Roselló, who are part of the Toro Prats Muay Thai Club.
The councillor responsible for Sports, Toni Molina (PP), explained that the selection was made by the Consell de l’Esport during a meeting that was held a few days ago which was chaired by the mayoress, Rosa Cardona.
The “Dona i Esport” campaign began last Sunday with a solidarity zumba activity by Gimnasia Rítmica Xàbia and a valenciana pilota game between two women’s teams at the Trinquet Municipal. It will continue on Sunday 7th April with the annual Women’s Non-Competitive Race organized by the Club Esportiu Llebeig de Xàbia and the Department of Sports; registration will open in mid-February.
Also within the framework of this sporting event, the coaches of the Club Esportiu Llebeig will carry out a series of open training sessions on the CEIP Graüll athletics track on Wednesday and Friday at 7.00pm.
Representatives from CE Llebeig explained that all those who are interested in participating in the Women’s Non-Competitive Race will be able to enjoy and learn the basic concepts of running to avoid injuries or learn to manage breathing and control with advice from club instructors.
