At around 6.00pm on Thursday evening, a small fire broke out in some abandoned cropland on Camí Montgó, an area surrounded by houses on the slopes of the mountain.

The rapid mobilization of means, both on land and in the air, has made it possible to control it quickly. Firefighters from the Provincial Consortium, forest firefighters from the Generalitat Valenciana and volunteers from Xàbia Protección Civil were mobilized to carry out the extinction tasks. The Policía Local and the Guardia Civil were also deployed to cut off access to the area where the operation was working to guarantee security.

At 7.00 pm the fire was practically extinguished and the crews were carrying out the standard damping down tasks.

Residents and visitors to the town are reminded that the region remains on Alert 3 due to the risk of fires, so it is prohibited to make fires, to have barbecues within 500 metres of forest areas and the use of aerial pyrotechnics, such as fireworks.
