Thursday 3rd June 2021 – PRESS RELEASE with Mike Smith
Little by little, Club Náutico de Jávea is resuming its normal activities. A few days ago, with the help of the Fundación Ecomar and students from Colegio Waldorf El Montgó, it hosted a cleaning day around the port of Xàbia and the beach of La Grava.
Around 30 schoolchildren participated in this special day, first listening to a talk by the foundation staff about the importance of recycling at home as a first step so that the rubbish generated by society doesn’t reach the sea. After lunch, they split into groups led by their teachers and staff from the club’s sailing school and headed to different points around the port as well as the beach of La Grava to collect up any rubbish that they found. They collected plastic and various bits of rubbish as well as many cigarette butts which were later deposited in the different recycling containers.
At the end of the day, they were gifted a Ecomar Logbook from the foundation, a presentation that was attended by councillors Alberto Tur (Sports) and Kika Mata (Services).
