Raúl Martínez crowned as Optimist U13 regional champion

Nando Puig, Carlota Gómez, and the sisters Begoña and Elena Pérez-Manglano have been called up to compete in the Copa de España in Tenerife.

Club Náutico Jávea’s Raúl Martínez has been proclaimed Optimist class regional champion of in the under-13 category after the last test held in Santa Pola. Martinez managed to be the best in this category in the six races in the waters in southern Alicante, and sneaked in among the top ten of all participants in two of them.

Also in the under-13 category, Begoña Pérez-Manglano placed fourth in the general classification of the event.

Meanwhile, Nando Puig was fifth overall with two heats in which he was placed as the best of all sailors, Mateo Carbonell 15th, Carlota Gómez 21st, Liam Woods 35th, Mauro Poveda 41st, Elena Pérez-Manglano 42nd, Arthur Baker 60th, Lewis McGregor 62nd, Pelayo Poveda 70th, and Kevin Lenis 73th.

At the end of the regular season of the Optimist regional calendar, the best sailors of the Club Náutico Jávea are:

Optimist A

Nando Puig – 4th
Mateo Carbonel – 17th
Raúl Martínez – 18th
Liam Woods – 22nd
Carlota Gómez – 23rd
Begoña Pérez-Manglano – 25th

This ranking reflects the potential for call-up to compete in the Copa de España and, representing Club Náutico Jávea, will be Nando Puig, Carlota Gómez, and the sisters Begoña and Elena Pérez-Manglano, who will travel to the island of Tenerife from May 12th to 15th.
