The incident took place in the street outside of CEIP Graüll.

The quick and effective intervention of an officer of the Policía Local de Xàbia was key to assisting a 16-month-old baby who suffered a medical emergency in the street.
The events took place in the vicinity of CEIP Graüll, while the officers were preparing for a school outing, when they noticed that a woman was coming towards them in a state of great alarm, asking for help, with her unconscious son in her arms who was showing symptoms of suffocation. The officers immediately began efforts to open the baby’s airways, and practice first aid, while requesting support from the Central.
Thanks to the officer’s training and quick reaction, the baby regained breathing and consciousness, and another patrol that arrived at the scene transported the baby and his mother to the Health Centre for a medical evaluation.
The headquarters of the Policía Local and the Deputy Security Councilor highlighted the importance of the training and preparation that has been given to local officers in first aid and advanced techniques in health emergencies, services that as first responders are attended to throughout the year in more than 500 cases. This training ensures that situations like this can have a positive evolution. In addition, they congratulated the officer for his professionalism and commitment to citizenship.
