The Alicante Provincial Council has organised ten special BREXIT workshops throughout the province, kicking off in Pilar de la Horadada this week and continuing over the next few weeks, visiting Torrevieja, Rojales, Teulada-Moraira, Mutxamel, San Miguel de Salinas, Algorfa, L’Alfàs del Pi and San Fulgencio as well as a tenth venue, currently unconfirmed but expected to be Xàbia.
The provincial secretary for International Residents, Juan de Dios Navarro explained that the provincial council wants to re-affirm its commitment to the rights of its citizens and have organised the campaign to address the concerns of more than 80,000 British residents living in the province.
As part of the campaign organized by the provincial council, a website was activated with relevant information available to users and, in addition, three online seminars were held to advise on pending procedures to regularize the situation of British citizens in Spain. This initiative is now entering its final phase with face-to-face talks in some of the municipalities which have the most resident British citizens.
The workshops will provide information on long and short stays in Spain, study trips, health care, licenses, certificates or document validations; essentially all kinds of issues related to the legal situation of the British community in this first year after the transitional period of BREXIT.
