The spokesperson for the PARTIDO POPULAR in Xàbia and candidate for mayor in the next local elections, Rosa Cardona, has proposed that Xàbia Council start the procedures to enable supervised housing in Xàbia, homes that, she says, “would represent an opportunity for people with functional diversity, vulnerable people and people at risk of social exclusion.”
The leader of the PP has indicated that “it is time to go a step further, and add to the work, support and accompaniment that is carried out by the Department of Social Services, Xàbia enables decent housing, to also provide for people with functional diversity or who need support due to their personal and socio-family situation”. Some housing needs for people who find themselves in these circumstances that the APROSDECO association has publicly claimed. Thus, Cardona has picked up the gauntlet and has proposed that Xàbia buy homes and convert them into supervised housing.
This proposal has been transferred as a result of the question that the PP leader, Rosa Cardona, asked last February about the number of homes acquired by the local council and to which the local government gave a silent response,
In this regard, Cardona has indicated that “this shows that, beyond the fact that the local council has announced that it is ceding plots to the Generalitat Valenciana for social rental housing, the Chulvi government has renounced buying each and every one of the houses that the Ministry has offered to acquire and enable housing opportunities in Xàbia, something even more inexplicable, since in addition, some of them were in the middle of the urban centre of the municipality”, Cardona said.
In addition, the PP councillor pointed out that “it is a pity that the local government remains silent on these issues, as happened when the Plan Convivint was approved, the planning with which the Generalitat Valenciana intends to build infrastructures and Social Services resources in several municipalities in the region, while in Xàbia, which also needs them, none are foreseen”.
Finally, the PP Mayoral candidate indicated that it is a paralysis in housing, “serious and worrying”, especially when the Xàbia Council has 50 million euros [in its coffers] and has not yet allocated any to resolve the housing problems suffered by young people and people with fewer resources in Xàbia”.
