Podemos Xàbia is encouraging all foreign residents to participate in the next local elections in May 2023 and to do so, it will be setting up an information table in the Plaza de la Constitución on Thursday 22nd December to distribute explanatory brochures and personally inform in different languages about the steps to take to make the registration.
A press statement explained that “the foreign population residing in Xàbia is around 44% of the total population, so a democratically balanced local government should have the will of this percentage of people expressed at the polls in the next municipal elections“. The local census shows that 33% of this total are citizens of the United Kingdom, 6% German, 5.4% Moroccan, residents of Colombia exceed 4% and the French account for 2.6%, among others.

Podemos Xàbia regard the processing through the web page enabled by the Diputación de Alicante to be able to exercise the vote as “complex” and, for this reason, they want to complement the talk that the town hall recently organized and contribute “to avoid the absenteeism registered in the last elections that reached 41.2% of the census“.
Party members will set up the information table in front of the Centro de Salud from 10.00am to 12.00pm, taking advantage of the influx of the weekly market to disseminate information about the registration process in different languages, which they consider will “bring decision-making and the definition of public policies closer to citizens“.
