APASA (Asociación Protectora de Animales de San Antonio) has been helping abandoned dogs in the Javea area to find new homes since 1999.
The association relies greatly on volunteers to work at their dog shelters, to walk the dogs and to support the many fund-raising events held throughout the year.
The APASA dog shelter in Camí de les Sorts houses on average some 240 dogs at any one time and this responsibility costs a lot of money. Around 2,000 euros a month are spent of food for the animals and around 45,000 euros a year on vets bills.
Therefore the association is always looking to raise the necessary funds to ensure that the dogs are given the best treatment possible until a new owner can be found.
How you can help APASA
You can become an APASA member for 25 euros a year or sponsor a dog for a monthly fee of 25 euros.
There are also options for fostering a dog in your own home with APASA covering the costs or adopt a dog on a permanent basis.
You can also help APASA by joining their fund-raising team to raise the money that is needed to maintain the dog shelter and provide the necessary finance to look after the dogs.

Become a Volunteer Walker
All dogs need plenty of exercise and APASA are always looking for willing volunteers to take one of their dogs for a walk in the fresh air through the surrounding orange groves.
Simply turn up at the dog shelter anytime between 10.00am and 1.00pm then 3.00pm and 6.00pm every day of the week and enjoy the fresh air of the Jávea countryside with a dog that needs it as much as you do.
