Officer Jeannine Cantó receives Blue Gold Cross award
She receives the award in recognition for her extensive professional career of more than three decades and on behalf of all local policewomen.
The Grand Blue Cross Emergency Order held its 8th Distinction Ceremony on November 22nd in the city of Carmona, Seville, an emotional ceremony in recognition of those who have stood out in the different emergency service bodies and is directed to all those who make up the Armed Forces. This includes the Guardia Civil, Police, Fire Brigade, emergency health services and the Mobility or Traffic Agent Corps.
Likewise, it also extends to “those who have, with their actions or achievements, managed to exalt the name of Spain and to those who contribute to maintaining the values that the constitution imposes on us.”
The award, which is one of the highest decorations granted by this Order, has recognized the dedication and exemplary vocation of Jeannine Cantó, a retired officer of the Policía Local de Xàbia.
The Grand Blue Cross Emergency Police Order aims to recognize her and acknowledge her outstanding work, so as not to forget those who, despite not being active, should never be forgotten. Those who knew how to put their family conciliation before their sense of duty should not be forgotten. For any police officer decades ago, their profession was a handicap in terms of family conciliation, there were hardly any rights in this regard.
More than five decades have passed since the incorporation of women into the Local or Municipal Police Forces. Hundreds of local or municipal policewomen have reached retirement in recent years, their recognition and farewell must be a continuous act, for those who formed part of a milestone in terms of the beginning of real equality between men and women despite the difficult work of a mother in terms of combining work life with the conciliation of those who share our lives, as well as those who gave it to them.
In the name of our heroines and in clear recognition of their work and despite not being able to decorate each and every one of them, the Blue Gold Cross with Blue Distinction is awarded, on behalf of all local and municipal policewomen, to Officer Jeannine Cantó of Policía Local de Xàbia and Pedreguer for her extensive professional career of more than three decades in police work and for being a reference and example of attitude and overcoming adversity that life tests us against every day.
