More than 6.7 million international tourists visited the Valencian region up to July
The United Kingdom continues to be the main market with more than 1.7 million tourists for the first seven months of the year.
A total of 6,786,222 international tourists visited the Comunidad Valenciana during the first seven months of the year, 17.8% more than last year, spending a total of almost 8.5 billion euros, 25.9% more than in 2023. The average stay has been 9.5 days, which represents a growth of 5.2% compared to 2023, while the average daily expenditure, estimated at 132 euros, has increased by 1.6%.
According to the results of surveys published this week by the National National Institute of Statistics (INE), referring to Tourist Movements at the Border (FRONTUR) and the Tourist Expenditure Survey (EGATUR), the market that has contributed most to this increase in accumulated foreign spending in the region has been the British market, which has spent 2.6 billion euros up to July, 32.8% more than in the same period in 2023. This is followed by the French market, which has spent 1.1 billion euros, 13% more than last year, and those from the Nordic countries who spent just over 1 billion euros spent, increased spending by 30.4% year-on-year.
The INE results also show that, compared to the same period in 2023, airport arrivals have grown by 16.8% and by road by 21.3%. Specifically, Alicante-Elche airport has grown by 19.8% and Valencia airport by 8.9%.
The regional tourism minister, Nuria Montes, has described these results as “very positive” which corroborate the growth trend in foreign tourism in recent months and, in this sense, has stressed that “we are a highly appreciated destination by foreign tourists, who choose us year after year to spend their holidays”.
Tourist Arrivals by Markets
By market, the most important for the Comunidad Valenciana continues to be the United Kingdom, with the arrival of 1,730,434 British tourists up to July, 15.7% more than in the same period of 2023. The UK is followed by France with 1,173,451 tourists, 15.4% more than in the same period of the previous year; the Nordic countries with 639,283 tourists, 19.4% more year-on-year, and the Netherlands, with the arrival of 528,984 visitors, which represents a growth of 24.2%. In addition, the German market has grown by 14% with the arrival of 433,467 Germans up to July, Belgian tourists numbered 419,883, 6.2% more than in the same period of last year, and 334,754 Italians visited the region up to July, 10% more year-on-year.

Regarding the data for last July, the FRONTUR survey shows that the Comunidad Valenciana received a total of 1,476,378 international tourists, which represents an increase of 10.8% compared to the same month in 2023, visitors who spent just over 2 billion euros, which represents an increase of 20% year-on-year.
In light of these results, Nuria Montes stated that “in the month of July, the clear recovery of foreign demand in the Comunidad Valenciana has been confirmed as the number of foreign tourists increased by 10.8% year-on-year. The figures also increased by almost 19% compared to the month of July 2019, the last year of normality before the pandemic”.
By market, growth is particularly notable in the case of the Dutch market (+51.3%), followed by the Nordic market (+10.2%), and French tourists (+9.7%). In addition, the United Kingdom market, the main source of tourists for the Comunidad Valenciana has increased by 3.8%.
