MORE THAN 42,000 PEOPLE VISIT VALENCIA’S NATURAL PARKS DURING EASTER
During Easter, the Generalitat recovered an initiative that included activities such as interpretive and educational routes.
A total of 42,558 people visited the natural environments of the Comunitat Valenciana during the Easter period, thanks to the ‘PASQUA ALS PARCS‘ campaign, organized by the Department of the Environment, Water, Infrastructure and Territory. This data means that 7,644 more people visited the parks’ visitor centres, an increase of 21% compared to the previous year.
The Generalitat Valenciana launched the campaign to promote the natural heritage of the Comunitat Valenciana with activities scheduled during Semana Senta. The autonomous region has 27 protected spaces made up of 22 natural parks, including El Montgó, a natural monument and four landscapes that, according to the Minister of the Environment, Water, Infrastructure and Territory, Salomé Pradas “have economic potential and are a complement to the attractions of sun and beach“.
Pradas explained that during this period, visitors were able to enjoy the 120 walking trails with a combined distance of 1,295km as well as 330km of 19 bicycle routes, 24 routes designed for Joëlette all-terrain wheelchairs (83 km) plus 15 adapted routes for people with reduced mobility in 12 natural parks.
In addition, 35 observatories were arranged in all the enclaves and the accessibility elements such as audio guides and fauna sounds in L’Albufera, La Calderona, Serra Mariola, Las Columbretes, La Mata and Santa Pola; the tactile models in the Font Roja and the Hoces del Cabriel or the sensitive routes of the Prat de Cabanes and the Serra Escalona.
A total of 230 professionals worked to develop trails, viewpoints, observatories and signage elements “so that everyone can enjoy and learn about the immense natural heritage of the three provinces,” said the minister.
