The regional secretary of Tourism, Francesc Colomer, has announced that 1,000 new vouchers of the Viatgem CV program have been issued this week which now means that more than 30,000 have been claimed since the launch of the initiative.

Colomer highlighted the impact of the travel voucher initiative which was activated “to stimulate demand, also coinciding at a time when international demand is very complicated and national tourism is non-existent due to the perimeter closures”, adding that “through this scheme, we can promote tourism among the residents of the Comunidad Valenciana, and it is working reasonably well and has the momentum to last in 2022”.

Regarding the occupation details of Semana Santa in the Comunidad Valenciana, Colomer explained that “it is framed in the assessment that we have of the first half of this year, which has been a few months of great complication for the tourism sector”. However, he has pointed out that “the positive part that we have observed is that people have a desire to travel, at the least when they have the opportunity”.

Regarding the figures, Colomer has pointed out that, according to Turisme forecasts, “the occupancy rate in the interior of the Region is at 60%, while on the coast, with an opening of 30% or 40% of the hotel offer, we have a forecast of 50% for this Easter “.

Colomer recalled that “we are in a very difficult year and we have spent a first half of it, which includes Easter, in a very complicated position”, and has pointed to the second half of 2021 for the “resurgence of tourism, always in step with the health situation and the rate of vaccination “.

Likewise, the head of Turisme has stressed that “the post-COVID world will need tourism as an escape and collective therapy to overcome the disaster we are experiencing.”
